Return on Investment (ROI) measures the gain or loss generated on an investment relative to its cost. The basic formula is: ROI = (Final Value - Cost) / Cost x 100%.

Annualized ROI accounts for the time period and is calculated as: Annualized ROI = ((Final / Initial)^(1/years) - 1) x 100%. This allows fair comparison between investments held for different durations.
